Are my files encrypted?
Yes: transfers are encrypted with SSL/TLS and stored files with AES-256. You can also enable SSE-C encryption, where your password acts as the key.
Where are my files hosted?
By default, as close to you as possible (continental region: Europe, America, Asia), even without an account. With a Premium account or higher, you choose the storage region — by continent or by country (France, the Netherlands, Germany, Singapore, the United States) — for performance and control over where your data is located. In Europe, hosting relies on European partners, for GDPR compliance.
Is TransferNow GDPR compliant?
Yes: a European solution with a choice of EU hosting, encryption, and antivirus scanning. You keep control over retention and access to your files.
How long are my files kept?
You control how long each transfer stays available; the maximum duration depends on your plan. Upon expiration or deletion, files are removed from our servers; Premium accounts and higher can recover them for up to 180 days, after which deletion is permanent.
Who can access my files?
Only people with the link (and the password, if you enable one) can download a transfer. Stored files are encrypted with AES-256, with the optional SSE-C, where your password acts as the key.
Do you offer a data processing agreement (DPA)?
Yes: TransferNow is a European solution with EU hosting, and it is GDPR compliant. A data processing agreement (DPA) is available for professionals.
