WeTransfer free in 2026: 3 GB, 10 transfers, 3 days — what’s changed

WeTransfer’s free plan now works with a monthly quota system.

In practice: you can send 10 transfers of 300 MB, or 3 transfers of 1 GB, or 1 single transfer of 3 GB. Once you reach either limit (10 transfers OR 3 GB combined), you’re blocked until the next month.

Files remain available for 3 days. After that, the link expires and your recipients can no longer download.

Real-world examples

• A photographer sending 5 shoots of 600 MB per week will hit the 3 GB quota in less than 2 days.
• A freelancer sharing 3 mockups of 1 GB with clients will exhaust their monthly quota in a single day.
• A small business regularly sending 500 MB presentations will be blocked after 6 sends.

Until 2024, WeTransfer free allowed sending 2 GB per transfer, with no monthly limit. The Bending Spoons acquisition changed the equation.

The maximum size increased from 2 GB to 3 GB, but new monthly restrictions (10 transfers, 3 GB combined) and reduced availability (from 7 to 3 days) make the offer overall less advantageous for regular use.

WeTransfer has offered three paid plans since late 2024. Here’s what each plan actually unlocks.

WeTransfer Starter (~7 €/month excl. tax)

The Starter plan is WeTransfer’s entry-level paid offer. It keeps the 10 transfers per month limit but increases the cumulative volume to 300 GB (vs 3 GB for free). No cloud storage included.

WeTransfer Ultimate (~19 €/month excl. tax)

The individual plan removes the monthly quota (unlimited transfers, up to 1 TB per transfer). You also get 2 TB of storage, customizable expiration, per-transfer branding, and expired transfer recovery. Note: Ultimate is reserved for personal use.

WeTransfer Teams (~16 €/user/month excl. tax)

Same features as Ultimate, plus centralized user management and shared storage space. Billed per user (minimum 2, up to 50 members).

Note: the Ultimate plan lifts the monthly quotas (up to 1 TB per transfer), but it is reserved for personal use — for professional or team use, you have to switch to Teams, billed per user.

TransferNow doesn’t limit the number of transfers or the monthly volume. You can send as many files as needed, as long as each transfer doesn’t exceed 5 GB.

TransferNow is a European solution, with hosting in France by default.
